e-brake mods

okay, drifitng :P, now we're getting to the good stuff. I want to mod my e-brake anyone got the tech on how to disable the e-brake button and make a puller type e-brake button? I tend to use the e-brake as little as possible while drifting, but when needed it's a pain in the *** when it decides to diligently LOCK OUT on me. so help if you can :P

thanks rotor heads

unscrew the button, pull the spring out, screw the button back on, slide the plastic back over the assembly. Sometimes a little tape the get the button to stick in or out. done

Wow...

Disabling that button all together via removing the spring idea is bad. You really want to make sure you install something additional to take the button's place.

You can buy caps that hold down the button for you, but e'braking isn't drifting, its ***-dragging. Learn how to heal/toe and watch some drift movies

Hey close by here, nice, anyways, I refuse to ebrake, i'll pre counter if i have to before i ever ebreak, thats me though

***Edit***
Ok one instance I Would ebrake, and thats if I had to initiate a drift instantly, such as a crashed leading tandem. But i'd still call it *** dragging.

here ya go. use the search next time, and look through some drifting forums.

And yes even top level drifters sometimes use the e-brake, It is used to intiate into the drift to create a higher angle. but they try not to do it for more than 2 secs. and even then its considered for point deduction.

Shove a normal sized metal paperclip under the button. Or just learn how to put the brake back down its not that hard.

... Have any of you guys read my user name?... Do any of you understand japanese?.... well, heres the thing "drifters" , you can alllll go out and rent Nomuken's (Ken Nomura's) drift JDM option vol. 2 video, (btw if you didn't know, he owns Uras and drives the Blitz R33 D1 car...) and watch him e-brake to "initiate" and to "reingage" a drift. Even kazama uses the e-brake even KEIICHI! uses his e-brake!

If you can't master ever aspect of your driving you're not balanced. NOW, as for those of you who suggested removing the e-brake, well I sure as heck wouldn't wanna be your poor *** trans, park on a hill, leave it in gear, thats not good for the trans and, it's not safe :S. Now as for you lot that think e-braking is "usless" I'll be pullin you outta the ditch the next time you come my island , we've got switch backs here that even in a safari van, you can get high centered if you don't take them carefully you HAVE to e-brake to make it out with your body kit let alone your exhaust. FINALLY, those of you on the "*** dragging bit, how freaking long do you pull your e-brakes for???? haven't you heard of turn, clutch, e-brake, rev, clutch? and for those of you have only the technique of clutch punch, please learn to brake transfer, accel off and power over along with the manditory j-turn.

Anyways, you got guff with my drifting, try and pass me.

Oh PS. heal toe is for down shifting....

SPIN TURN **** FTW! It definitely helps since once in a while I don't fully hold the button down when releasing the ebrake. Also taping it is annoying since it leave residue behind. I'm N/A and still learning so I use it for initiating low speed drifts. Eventually, hopefully not soon, when my ebrake cable goes, I'm going to change over to hydraulic and be a happy camper

Just remember to get the one for the AE86 if they don't have one specifically for RX7s. I got mine off ebay.

1.Nomuken doesnt drive an r33 he drives an r34 sedan (4 door).
2. Keiichi Tsuchiya is not that good in comparison to most of the D1 drivers nowadays (in drifting).
3.Saying how good you are at driving on the internet doesnt mean **** in real life.

Ebraking is a needed technique in drifting. Having a well rounded driving style is what most judges expect from drivers. If you want to bring D1 into this if you watch D1 competition where it is raining 95% of the drivers initiate with the ebrake because it is more predictable in the rain than clutch kicking and isnt as abrubt as doing a feint and wont speed you up like doing a power over. Especially at Sugo circuit, the ebrake upon initiation usually lasts for the majority of the first sweeper then they lightly get on the throttle.

Noted. My opinion, however, will remain the same for ebreak. Don't use it unless you there are no other options.

This might be a dumb idea for an E-brake mod but here goes.

I've had this idea for additional FC security. Could the E-brake pushbutton be replaced with a keyswitch so that the E-brake could only be disengaged with a key?
Of course for normal driving the switch would NEVER lock so that the E-brake could be used normally.
