Dyno Tunning, yep it Time!
Okay I will be dyno tunning my RX at a local performance shop, and I had a coupla questions for you expert tunners.......I will be tunning my S-AFC myself because its 60 bux for 2 runs with the wideband O2....I'm not sure if rotarys are unique in A/F tunning in that I don't know any rotary tunners in SA except for the rip off Alamo Rotary.......How hard is it to tune my S-AFC for the most effiecent and most power? Do I tune the whole power band to a certian A/F ratio? or is there set values for each RPM range, that people have had luck with...I don't want to dyno my car just to get HP numbers so if any of ya'll tunner wanna help a Loosing Football Team State brother out holla up.

but how will that work if I'm suppose to see 11.4 - 12.1 under WOT, and 14.7:1 just while cruzing......but at the same RPM I can be at WOT or just cruzing so I guess all I can tune is at WOT correct?

that's why there are high and low settings for the S-afc.... you tune the high settings for WOT. should be around 11.7:1. do you have cats or an airpump in??
edit: it'll take you more then 2 runs to do it...

oh ya then just tune for full throttle.
well if you are lucky you could do it in 2 I guess...
basicly the first run you do it at it set at 0's or whatever you have it at now.
hopefully the dyno will plot the A/F ratio onto paper so you can see it against RPMs other wise you'll have to remember what the fuel was at what RPM.
after the 1st run you can take a look at the numbers. see where you need to change it. and change it at those RPMs by a little bit. then do the 2nd run. I guess if you are lucky you might get stuff close enough. but a 3rd might be needed if it's not. so you can do some more adj. after the 2nd run.

your going to need more than two pulls to tune your Safc!! $60 bucks for a baseline sounds about right, you need to rent it for 1 hour or pay someone to tune it. Here are local dyno is $175 bucks for a tune, intill the tech can reach peak performance and A\F.
