DVD/NAV is installed, but I have some problems!
I have an Eclipse AVN5500 unit that I just finished installing. The head unit works great, but I have an issue.
I posted this in the audio forum, but got no answers, I am hoping I can get one here.
I can't find the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) wire in this car... I need it for my GPS to work properly. I checked all my audio databases that I know of, but none have the info....
Any ideas?

There's a speed sensor in the instrument cluster that sends a signal to the cruise control, power steering and AAS computers. It's a green/red wire that can be tapped into at any of those four locations.

I've done several Eclipse units without the speed sense hooked up, and they've all tracked properly and have had no issues. I think the signal goes from within 5 feet accuracy to like 10 feet, or something retarded like that.

Just got off the phone with Eclipse. they verified the Green/Red wire in the cluster, AND told me that the VSS is why it is not tracking at all.......
I will try it tonight.

That's weird. Kinda funny how the cheaper self contained GPS units don't need a VSS wire, and they work perfectly fine. VSS wires in Pioneer radios do basically nothing, except with some calibration and other random features which are practically useless.

interesting that no vss = no tracking... almost makes it sound like they need vss to tell how much you move, sorta eliminiating the need for real gps?
of course, my logic is flawed
