When you boost so high your fuel system can't keep up, the air intake plumbing and manifolds can't handle the pressure and crack, or the turbo is so big, the rotary won't breathe deep enough to spool it up. Which ever occurs first.

stock set up stock boost. stock turbo with new IC fuel and exhaust is about 12. stock IC is only like 10.

basicly 10 on stock setup with fuel mods! you must have FUEL

Why is it not a good idea with stock cats? too much back pressure?

The back pressure from the cats would work against the turbo. I am not exactly sure how that would result, but I imagine it wouldn't be anything more than some lost power from the turbo. It just isn't a good idea to work against the power making of the turbo.

Are you sure you're qualified for this supercharging project of yours Dezerte? Don't blow up your engine I still want pics and vids!

Yeah im qualified! I think at least, i wont be blowing anything up.
My current setup is fine for the SC, i will be getting bigger injectors and a new fuel pump, but my exhaust is ready for it.

Everyone here is forgetting the magic words:

FUEL CUT DEFENDER.

You go over 8.6, and the rear rotor gets fuel shut off. That's baaaaaaad.

Do NOT run any more boost without an FCD. Don't know what one is or where to get it? I know YearsOfDecay was building them for members of this forum... If he's not doing it anymore, Racing Beat sells them.

While I don't recommend repeatedly hitting it, this is not the engine-killer some claim it to be. I've hit it numerous times with no ill effects. The rear rotor simply stops working, and I've yet to hear a good explanation for how this can kill an engine. if your engine does die form hitting fuel cut, it was most likely on it's very last legs anyway.

You can't. That's the whole point of the fuel cut; to stop boost rising any further.

So if you want to run more than 8.6psi, you need a FCD. If you're handy with electronics you can make your own from the instructions at Team FC3S.
