i was wondering what was the easiest way to reach these nuts on an 87 NA with the 5th and 6th ports still on. the ones im having problems reaching are the top ones. also the nut on top of the exhaust shield towards the front of the engine.

i have an exhaust leak from around there. when the rmps drop from 3-2k i can hear it either letting exhaust out of in. im not sure if its a popping or sucking noise. when i went under the car i did find one nut thats on the bottom towards the rear was almost off the bolt so i tightened it down and that got rid of most of the noise but i cant reach the others on top to tighten them down. would an extention be thin enough to reach in there?

 

just pull the port actuator(s) off- not hard at all- couple of 10mm nuts & the push rod/pin...use some silicone on reinstall if the gaskets are shot...simple 10 min. job...
