DUMB question...Can PVC handle turbo intake temps??
Can PVC elbows handle the heat of intake air after the turbo? Or what about ABS?
I just can't seem to find silicone ones anywhere.. and I'm sure they are expensive.
I'm sure there are elbows and pipes designed for high heat available through hardware stores, etc....just can't seem to find any.
How hot do those pre-intercooler temps get anyways at 10 PSI?

its more the temp of the engine compartment than the intake temps. With any luck the intake temps are lower than the engine compartment temp.

That's interesting... I would have thought that post-compression temps would be very high! (Like 200 degrees F?)
Well... I suppose I could wrap the tubing with thermotec or something...

mines running just fine. I've also added a heat sheild around the air filter sence this picture.

i have seen a TT 351 in a Thunderbird supercoupe and he seamed to be running just fine. Though im not too sure about the intake temp of the 351TT vs the intake temp of a 13BT, i would say **** it and try it, and monitor it closley. Maybe some of that black piping, damn, whats it called? supposed to not shatter like PVC does or some ****...hhmm... oh yeah, its called ABS. You wont know until you try, hell, i was thinking about trying it until i could get someone to fab me some.

Sure, you can get cheap and use PVC and ABS.  Both will soften and MELT at 200°F.  Outlet temps from the turbo at 10psi will easily get over 150°F.
Do you know what "PVC" is?  PVC stands for poly-vinyl-chloride.  When PVC melts, it EMITS chlorine gas.  Chlorine gas is CORROSIVE and eats metal.  You're softening PVC...making it emits corrosive chlorine gas...which gets sucked into your engine.  That makes for a very nice picture!
Turbonetics and Baker Precision both sell silicon hose.  Save your money for it.

ABS is better at high temps than PVC, but neither is really the best choice. I have lots of experience with using ABS at high temps, and it begins to soften quickly after a few minutes. About 30 seconds later, the pipe fails catastrophically which usually results in a major hole ripping in the pipe...
Bambam, most good exhaust shops will be able to sell you stainless pipe for not too expensive. I picked up a 10 ft length of 403 stainless (2" diameter) for $80.

OK- I can use metal pipe for the straight sections- it was just the elbows I was looking for. I wanted to use pre-made ones. I don't want to be bending and welding pipe sections right now... I'd prefer to be using a modular setup for now, while I am moving everything around.
Basically I had forgotten about using radiator hose for the elbows- I guess I should have payed attention looked under the hood of a TII!!!
Problem solved.
I will definately not use PVC. I know the degredation temp, and I know it's chemical compostion- I just needed to know what temp it was good for.
