Re: Dual TPS on Jspec

All S4's have one TPS; all S5's have two. You'll need to swap the S4 TPS onto it because the dual TPS won't work with the S4 ECU.

I put an S4 Jspec in my car about a year and a half ago. It came with a dual plunger TPS. If you look at it, you won't be able to plug it into your harness due to the fact that the plug is different. There are also (if I remember correctly) 6 wires coming off of the Dual plunger TPS.
The single plunger TPS has 4(I believe).
I was told by other reputable forum members that it should be swapped out for the single plunger TPS.

Good Luck!

Man That is a good question Hailers. I remidied the situation by using my US Spec UIM and Throttle body on the Jpsec motor.
If he still has those peices, that is what I would suggest.

I'm wondering if he has a two plunger outfit, and the wiring harness on the engine, is for a single plunger, if the wiring could be manipulated b/t the engine harness and the tps harness so that only the low range is being looked at by the ECU.

I am not sure. What does the second plunger do?

If one plunger does low range readings and one does high range (I always heard that TPS only does low range readings???) I don't see why you couldn't clip the wires from the second plunger and rewire it to the harness terminal.

Will it give the same readings as a single plunger TPS?

This series five shows the output of the narrow range to be the same as the series four i.e. one 1, volt. So I figure a guy could just snip some wires and do some rearranging and make it work on a series four. I've never seen a series five tps so I'm just guessing. Here's the series five pinouts on the plug
