replaced all the bushings with OEM ones, and the car improved handling dramatically. 10yrs will take Their toll. However, I eventually decided to switch to the toe eliminator bushings ( I had a spare car) and can saay that with DTSS the car is far more predictable. Easier to correct when the tail goes out. As far as drag racing goes...I can't tell either way. I've never had wheel hop with either.
Mazda doesn't trust people to properlly install the DTSS bushings directly due to tolerance issues, so they ONLY offer the DTSS hub which isn't cheap. You may be able to graft some aftermarket bushings in the hub.
I have ran both DTSS and now eliminators and know how corner hard with the DTSS working, and kinda liked it with stock tires & wheels. The eliminators do give you better feedback without that momentary "is the backend breaking loose" feeling.

recently replaced mine (which actually looked to be in good condition) with the eliminators. a day of hot lapping at the track had me utterly *hating* the stupid bushings. the rear end now doesn't have that constant squishy feeling of (is it gonna slide? IS IT GONNA SLIDE? I'm GONNA DIIEEE!!!"

Get rid of it. The bushing was designed to work with late 80's tire technology. Tires are much better now in that performance tires work better. Now combine these great tires with a big rubber bushing that is 14-19 years old. Not my idea of a predictable car when your driving at the limits of adhesion.
