Dropped the car off for a tune...place your bets.

I just got back from dropping my car off at Speed1 (KDR) for a tune.... I have my idea of what I should end up with power wise.... I have a bet with my GF and buddy as to what it'll put down...

heres the engine mods..

-Med/Large Pineapple Street Port S4 Turbo II motor w/ atkins rebuild kit and RA Classic seals
-Modded oil pressure regulator
-Custom UIM with 85mm TB
-V-mount IC setup
-Precision 6262sp Ball Bearing billet wheel turbo on 20lbs
-Tial 44mm wg with 20psi springs in it (no boost controller) Open dump to atmosphere
-3" Turbo Back exhaust
-Denso Supra fuel pump
-1000cc primary/1600cc secondary injectors in custom rails.
-Aeromotive FPR
-Haltech Platinum Sport 1000 Standalone
-CoolingMist Meth injection and 93 pump gas
-The motor is fresh and the first tune since the rebuild.

We're doing a The Price is Right, closest without going over bet.

-I say it'll make 503
-my buddy says 515
-my gf sold me short at 498 lol

winner gets the Price is Right "haha I'm right" bragging rights...

Lets hear your guesses....should know the outcome Tuesday or early Wednesday.

I have tons of faith in Dave... He knows what he's doing. and its only time and money... I have all the time in the world to rebuild, and can always make more money.

but if it does pop, you called it!

i say you wind up having to reschedule due to boost creep.

20psi spring in a 44mm wastegate is gonna creep, you have to undershoot your spring size, for example my 40mm WG with 10lb spring on a smaller turbo i can pull in no less than ~15psi by redline with my weak 8.5:1 CR S4 rotors.

so that said, my bet is you creep beyond the WI/pump gas tunable limits or pop the motor(sorry but saying it anyways). your fuel pump will already be struggling at around the 500whp mark without some sort of voltage booster to overdrive it.

Your in good hands with Dave if he kills it hell take care of you.But im agreeing with the creep issue though as that is why im waiting till i get my dual wastegates setup before i go to Dave Plus id say being such a fresh engine Dave will tune it alittle rich.

hmmmmm a supra pump is reaching its limits at around 500hp on just strait gas. so if your squirting meth too it will help bring the charge temp down and the reduce the duty cycle on the injectors.... but your not going raise the boost past 20psi I would have to 478hp on 20psi with a street port on a 62 wheel.

I think you will creep a little past 20 and then back down to 20 once the gate is fully open.

yeah I put in 1.3bar springs.... creeps and holds 20psi on the car.

As for dropping it off... I have all the faith in the world with Dave, and I don't feel as though my presence or that of any other devine being will keep the car from blowing up.... If its gonna blow, its gonna do so reguardless of me being there. Its not my DD, or even backup car. Its my toy car. I dont see a difference if I watch it blow up, or get a phone call saying it blew up.

I pretty much told Dave "Its gonna make what its gonna make, I'd like as much out of it as possible on a safe tune."

The motor has about 3 hours of running time on it...nothing over 4,000 rpm. I told this to dave and he said "Thats fine, we'll take care of it."

then i say 498 but it won't be safe so it's kind of meaningless.

you left yourself a window of about .1mm with that setup, without a boost controller/softer WG spring to allow you to drop it into a safe area.

im with karack on the boost creep, i pretty much despise tial 40&44mm wastegates. they never hold what they say.

But if all goes well and i hope it does i say 505

most of the dynosheets I've seen from KDR tend to be on the generous side

and I 100% disagree on the wastegate and boost predictions. The boost will lazily reach peak (no controller remember) and then taper off. It won't creep at all. Assuming there is enough wastegate flow, boost has a natural tendency to taper off up top without a closed loop boost controller. The actual peak boost achieved will depend on how you are measuring it and how progressively the spring/valve open.

also, you can control boost with the Haltech and a ~$25 solenoid. Haltech boost control is a dumbed down version of a lot of OEM systems.

you could be right but it really depends on the exhaust manifold flow path and the wastegate. i've seen more than i would like as far as poorly designed manifold wastegate flow paths, if it is dumped to atmosphere it will help alot for boost control, if it's plumbed back into the exhaust, poor plumbing direction and moderately sized WG then it'll creep.
