Driving in VA

Any 2nd gen RX-7 owners in VA? My wife seems to think that my 10AE is going to explode into a million pieces at the first sign of snow and wants me to sell it before we move to VA (obviously an excuse for me to sell my baby). Please prove her theory wrong.

Is she going to be driving?
I love my gf and my mother dearly, but when it comes to vehicles they know enough to know that they just don't know

I'm in VA. Right near the TN/KY border. I drive mine pretty often and we get pretty good snows down here.

I drove mine when we got the storms this year. It was fine, there is better, but it was fine. Until the starter died...

I drove my old '90 GTU through about 8 snowy, salty winters in Pittsburgh and Maryland. Yes it can be done. Traction leaves something to be desired, especially when climbing hills. Plan on getting some good snow tires. Is your 10AE minty and rust-free? If so you might want to pick up a fwd winter beater to keep it that way. Despite my best efforts and lots of washing, I ended up with holes in my floors and frame rails. One nice thing about the FC as a winter car is that the heater works great and warms up fast.

Snow driving is actually well covered in the FAQ.

Not even a Level 2 Snow Emergency would stop my FC. While all the normal people were trundling down US 33 at 25mph, I was doing 55-60. Just be sure to watch the Drift Bible first. What you'll learn from it is immeasurably useful in snow. the only tidbit I have other than that would be to not go out alone and have AAA. In case you get stuck, having another person there to push while you rock it will get you unstuck most of the time. And if not, AAA is always a good idea, as well as investing in a set of good tow hooks.

Just for the record, I've never had to call AAA to get unstuck yet, but I'm a big believer in the omnipotent god, Murphy.

Other than that, do what Aaron Cake says.
