Drift Machine
Hellos all!
I just got a '90 NA GX model and I'm pretty new to the RX-7 family
...I wanted to modify it to make it a good drift car or at least take corners well and not just do 1/4 miles fast
I've been reading around and I'm still kinda lost...
I still need to do the standard maintanence stuff on it but I'm not sure what all of it is...anyone know a good source where I can make sure I don't miss out on anything?? Also how to do these things myself such as replace vacumm hoses and other stuff?
Any perfered fluids?? I've heard of Redline Tranny fluid?? anything else??
Also what performance upgrades to do in which order...I've read to do the exhaust first and then intake...and then I'm not sure after that...maybe ECU??? also wondering what everyone thinks are the best exhaust and intake systems???
Also how low the ride should be for best drift performance?? Also size of rims and tires settings??? would I have to mess with the chamber???
Best shocks struts and springs???
As you can see I got a lot of questions and not sure where to look or start..
Not sure if I've missed anything else important other then driving skill...
Thanks!!

Well, for maintaince, check out http://www.fc3s.org/ Under How-To's and Manuals you'll find the FSM, just read through it all and learn (also explains the vac lines/etc) As for rims, the best bet is to go with some lightweight 15's or 16's (usually the BBS vert style, or BBS s5 TII style, or the s5 GXL wheels are pretty light). Order of performance mod's, i'd say probably Intake/Exhaust/Rear Toe-Eliminators/shocks & springs/camber plates. As for exhaust, I'm a fan of Racing Beat (you can search and find a million replies to that subject), intakes, I think a homebuilt is the best route.

I'm trying to sell the whole car right now, but I will part it out if no-one bites. They come with 2 Kuhmo autocrossing tires and 2 BFG-R1 autocrossers. In a month, I'll sell it all plus a spare BBS wheel for $250...if I don't sell the whole thing first.

Well the kinda recipe for a drifter.
Bad/close to bald rear tires.
LSD rearend(88 GTU has/YAY!!!)
Mods/upgrades:
Suspension!
Our cars have anti-screw up things in the rearend to help people from losing control.
Well drifting is about losing control a bit so that is why
there is "Rear toe eliminators". It makes the rearend kick out a little easier.
As for camber. Your sliding the cars rearend so your gonna want to have a little negative camber.
From what I understand you want a stiff rearend suspension with a softer front end.
Engine:
Well your gonna need some torque to get the rearend to move on a N/A. The best one in my opinion would be the true dual exhaust. Uncollected Exhaust which gives you good midrange HP and torque.
Intake,I'd just get the EBAY special cone filter($15)
Since you have a 90 just gut the cats or do something else.
