I wouldn't know, but I for sure know that I like manual steering much more than power steering. I'm a STRONG guy so I don't have to worry about turning while driving slow.

Anyway, to me it handles much better with out it. I can feel the road more without P/S, therefore giving me much more of a insight of what to expect, and what actions to take while driving. I used to pull 40mph on this one curve with my GXL. Now I pull 50mph on it with my SE!

They generally keep it from what I've seen. Without it is no problem however. As you probably already know not having PS isn't an issue once you get over parking lots speeds. Run with what you got. It's the driver behind the wheel that makes a good drift car. Good luck out there.

It's definately easier for me with P/S.
But it is not required.

I was worried about removing my P/S because I auto-cross and I'm not exactly a buff guy...but even at relatively low auto-x speeds, I have no problem, and I LOVE the feel of manual steering.

I'm not exactly a buff guy, I'm actually a scrawny little bastard...I also auto-x and was worried when I took my PS out...But now that its out, I can't imagine going back to PS...it makes drifting, auto-x, backroads, everything except parking better..and I don't mind not having PS in parking lots, it helps me work out my arms a little bit, and besides, our cars are light as hell...I can manuever parking lots fine without PS. I've NEVER had the wheel jerk out of my hand, or even close to it, while driving fast.

Usually its fine when drifting, but once or twice hitting a bump midturn and having the car hook up has jerked the wheel out of my hands.
