from what i know, exhaust goes from the turbo, through a downpipe, through a connecting pipe, to the cat out through the rest of the exhaust right.

ok so now i'm shopping for a downpipe for my 10AE...i'm looking for a 3"...do the ones offered (HKS, Racing Beat), do they replace the connecting pipe also? if not, what is the diameter of the stock connecting pipe?

 

I don't think any premade 3" one will bolt to your car. the racing beat 3" one only works with the full RB system.

 

Not even the corksport 3" downpipe and the 3" main cat replacement pipe?

 

anything can be made to work with anything. the flanges rb uses can be bought to be used to make a custom app. any rate, anyone have an answer to my question? does a downpipe replace the stock connecting pipe?

The Corksport 3" downpipe will go from the turbo to the main cat, replacing the pre-cat and stock middle pipe. The midpipe just replaces the cat.
