Downpipe Questions
Hey, I want to get a downpipe for my '89 TII. Do I or do I not need to get a presilencer? I have heard both sides and don't know what to believe. Also, where can I find Bonez downpipes? I've only seen the RB and Mindtrain DPs, and the Racing Beat with Presilencer is like $245! I will be leaving the rest of my exhaust stock. Thanks!

rx7.com has the bonez. all you need is the downpipe. but it will leave the stock main cat in place. you could also buy either there high flow cat, or straight pipe to replace the main cat. all of these will leave the stock cat back in place and bolt up perfect.

Cool. If I don't use the presilencer how loud will it be? I don't mind a modest increase in noise, but I don't want to be too ridiculous. Oh yes, scott89T2 your car is gorgeous

the noise is a personal issue....I heard people complain about the stock exhaust being too noisy....GEEZ GET A TOWN CAR THEN. But if it's power that you are looking for, and still keep your sanity, then by all means replace your cats first, i'd do that before an intake. I would recommend the RB 3 incher. Then you'll always have room to grow from then on. But otherwise the Bonez 2.5" is fine. I got a 14.3 with that setup so it's not THAT restrictive. Good Luck ...and remember that noise is a personal preference thing.

to be honest just go with the racingbeat turbo setup. thats what i have in my car and its sound awesome!. not to loud or quiet. it has a nice deep rumble to it. and it doesnt sound like those crappy universal mufflers that the hondas have on. the down pipe is included with the kit. the diameter of the piping is 3 inches from the turbo to the mufflers. but smells like gas! ewww. im glad i have AC. but as soon as you install the setup you can really feel the difference! hope i was of some help

if he's up set about the $245 for downpipe and presilence. I don't think he'll be buying the whole system
and to fastrotaries. if you buy the 3" RB downpipe. it doesn't bolt to anything. you would have to get a custum pipe made to meet whatever you are putting behind. the bonez one bolts straight in to the stock cat. or to the stock cat back (or any aftermarket cat back) with the bonez high flow cat or midpipe.
not everyone needs a 3" downpipe... mine creeps to much for me.

Remember, theres a small 2" straight pipe between where the stock DP and the Stock main cat is. You'll have to figure out how long your DP is becuase depending on who makes it, they bolt up to different place. The Bonez pipe bolts to the stock middle pipe. The RB dp bolts up somewhere in between the two, and a DP like the thunder fabrications DP goes all the way to the y-pipe, replacing both cat's and all the pipes from the turbo to the y-pipe.

Bonez Pipe
I am running stock type aftermarket mufflers with a Bonez down pipe and no cats. The sound is very nice and is not at all loud at cruising speeds. It is a tad noticable when you are into the throttle at high engine RPMs. I would say it is just right.

Hey thanks all for the advice. I think I'll just go with the Bonez 2.5in and bolt it straight up to the cat, as I live in Missouri and have to deal with emissions inspections. Will I feel I nice difference with just the 2.5 in downpipe in place? At some point a might stick a high flow cat on there too.... Hey Scott sweet picture, is there some kind great story behind it?

Hey, before I order the Bonez 2.5in, I gots to know if I will feel a difference when it is bolted to my stock cats? Does anyone have this setup or know what kind of performance improvement I might see? Thanks..
