Double throttle diaphrams and delay valves vs check valves
Does anybody out there know why, on a 88 model, there is a DELAY VALVE between the water thermo valve and the double throttle diaphram on the N/A car, but on the turbo model there is a CHECK VALVE between the water thermo valve and the double throttle diaphram????

Hold vacuum from what end/direction?
Could be since the TII runs under positive manifold pressure sometimes... you want to keep vacuum in the lines.....
I have never looked closely at a TII engine.

Hold the vacuum b/t the valve(check valve or delay valve) and the double throttle diaphram. Double throttle diaphram is connected to the linkage for the secondary throttle plates.
