door linkage problem or lock problem???

first my car is a 86sport. when i lock the drivers door from the inside, then shut the door, as soon as it latches it unlocks. Also the door only unlocks from the outside, i know i need a new lock assy. but id still like to be able to lock the drivers door without climbing in the pass. side,,, is this something i could just take the door apart and clean it and it be ok, or is something more likely broke, i know you cant give exact answers, but i dont really wanna tear the door apart till the weekend, and i would like to know what to expect

You have to pull on the handle as you close the door or it wont lock.

Mine does this also, and the key won't fit into the lock, seems like someone before me got something stuck inside the lock assembly...
Anyway, would a remote locking kit solve this problem?
Or what is the best way to fix this problem? Is there a way to get a door lock made to match your key?

at least your handle (driver) still opens right! after taking mine apart i found the handle had separated from one side of the inside "pivoting rod"(the part inside the door which pivot allowing the door handle to make the motion to pull the rod up and down yea well new one soon ..... my lock cylinder gave me trouble as well its an oem and i gave it some powered graphite lubricant and it shaped up very well i used it all around would recommend.....
