Does exhaust porting hurt low end on a N/A? for hurt anything?
Does exhaust porting hurt low end on a N/A? for hurt anything?
basicly how big is to big? i'm using a pineappple racing large streetport on my irons and i'm wondering how big to go on the exhaust. i know they recomend the EP1A for N/A's but i don't know if that's just for a little bump up or full out performance. was thinking about going bigger. anyone?
ahh i see. well i already switched my diffuser exhaust ports for the turbo models and that alone looks like it's going to make a big diffrence. i'm guessing from the looks of it the EP1A i used to open the ports up to match the sleeves and nothing more. cause with the new turbo sleeves in if you look through them into the housing you can see about a 1/8 over hang lip all the way around the port that could be removed. does doing this change the sound of the exhaust as well?
I did the EP2 on my NA, motor is on its way together. Waitin for some odd ball parts from pineapple though..
The lil bat wing foil is in the NA for noise cancelation, so that alone being out well change it. And advanceing the port also will make here a lil louder i believe.

porting the exhaust on a not super modded NA is pointless. even the mazdatrix race guys often dont port the exhaust. porting it only helps if you have much more exhaust already flowing, coming from a much larger port or P-port.
yes you will gain power, but at a way larger sacrifice of low end than you are expecting. dont bother, keep the little amount of low end you already have! haha!

i was looking at the EP1A and EP2A and in the end just bought the EP1A cause it looks like it's just going to match the port to the new turbo sleeve i just got and i don't think i'll need more than that. i wouldn't say that my motor is going to be the fastest out thier but i will be running a large streetport with S5 rotors, rx8 shaft, pineapple inserts, turbo sleeves, VDI, full intake and exhaust with no cats, a rtek. shooting for 190-200whp working through the miata gearbox. i'm not out to beat vettes down the interstate boys, just through the turns lol

Why is that. I have heard that a properly tuned N/A streetport can hit those numbers. I searched it out, and there are a few differing opinions, but it looks like a well built street port can hit 200 on a good day.
So why would 190-200 be out of reach? Does this set up need more done to it? does it take a 4 port to hit those numbers?

if you have a stock intake manifold, its not going to do more that 170rwhp...
you want a balanced combo, and if you're limiting yourself up top with the stock intake, why not maximise the low end too?
if it'll do 170rwhp with stock exhaust ports and turbo sleeves, why hurt the low end by porting the exhaust?

So will the turbo intake on a 4 port be able to flow enough to make the 200? Or is forced induction required to move enough air/fuel?
Supposing someone had a T2 motor and stripped the turbo parts. Will the T2 UIM, LIM and exhaust ports flow well enough to get the most out of a streetport? (Assuming a good intake/filter and custom headers/exhaust)

ehh it's all in fuel and tuning. maybe i woun't get that high but it's nice to have a goal, even if i only get 170-180 i'm sure it'll still be fun. so the intake manifold becomes the main problem when you try to get into the higher numbers? if so what about this?

he's making 195whp doing the same basic thing only using a turbo intake manifold. is it because of the manifold?

Stock intake manifolds
Stock AFM
Stock ECU
Any combination of the above will hinder hitting that magical 200hp at the wheels mark.
This has been argued ad nauseum before.
Do your research before spreading more bullshit.
