Looks like the ACV dump line... in which case you can remove it if you no longer have an air pump or ACV.

Like said before

The muffler under the passenger headlight connects to the ACV.

It is one of the ways air is diverted through the ACV(when not used).

If you get rid of the ACV you can defintely remove it.
If your keeping the CV then it will just be loud.

To promote breakdown of exhaust in the catalytic convertors and also to actuate the auxilliary ports on N/A models (S5).

on s5's the airpump activates the actuators, on both it supplies, along with the acv, air to the cat for emissions

If you don't have emissions tests you can remove it, along with the air pump, split air pipe and cat convertor. Search for "ACV"; there are dozens of threads covering removal.

Go to letter J. That is the Block off plate you will need for the ACV once it is removed. Also IF you remove your air pump, Make sure you wire open your SIX port sliders, and the VDI in the throtlle body( or remove them). They operate off the airpump on the S5 models. If it is a S4(86-88) Then they operate off of the CAT i believe and the airpump can be removed with no effects to the six ports and the VDI. Please correct me if I am wrong here guys.( about the S4 ports operating off the cat)

First, an NA engine with working 6PI and VDI systems is better than one with everything ripped off because you don't understand it. Second, this is a turbo engine.
