do i have lsd?

so i have a s4 t2 chassie with a with an s5 na engine and trans thats how it was when i got it. now i realize that just doing a burnout is not going to tell me wether or not its lsd. i had the car on a jack today the metal tag was on the rear but i couldnt read it. i did however spin the tire and they both spun the same direction just not at the same rate and had aanother set of hands hold the other side and it stopped.

i did read alot of other post sorry to raise the question again. but i also wanted to know if anyone knew the distance between bolts on the t2 rear so i could measure mine thanks for your time.

It should be pretty easy to tell if you have one just by doing a burnout. If the right tire lights up, you don't. If both spin, you do. If the rear end in the car is a TII, either S4 or S5, it's a limited slip. If it's an S4 rear end, it isn't if it's a base model (SE in '88) but is if it wasn't a base model. If it's an S5 n/a, it's not a limited slip. If it's an S4 limited slip, it's a friction style. If it's an S5, it's a viscous.

You have a sense of humor. You'll fit right in.

Yes, you have a limited slip differential for sure, if that's what you meant.

Have you done any rear end work before? Do you have the appropriate tools? You'll need a dial indicator to set backlash, large (7-8") micrometer to set bearing pre-load, torque wrench and of course a shop manual. If you don't have the experience or the appropriate tools, than I would suggest taking it to a shop.

Ya,that is a good plan.
I had a diff or 2 with the same thing happen.,
One I replaced a front bearing on,the other one I just replaced the seal on.

^ This. It's the reason I haven't opened the one I have sitting in the garage. Some things are good to have a pro nearby to teach the first time. Well, I'm more talking about assembly.

You can use the shop manual to measure the disks to see what you need, but assembly I'd leave to a pro.
