Exclamation Do all FC's do this?

I just got a White Turbo II and whenever I hit redline, the car honks! Are they supposed to do this? How do I disable it?

is it the horn? Or a buzzer?

It's a warning buzzer.

Yeah, you can disable it.

Don't go over redline.

Haha, that reminds me of when I'd take people for rides in my FC, I'd go past redline and they'd go "Who's honking at you?" Hehehe, those were the days.

hahah yeah all my friends say that now.. i've never heard it being reffered to as honking though.. weird, that is the buzzer my friend, think of it this way you never have to look at your revs when racing.

sheez its not going to kill you to not rev it so high and stop hurting the motor. There is neerly zero power gaines from the buzzer + and right at line. So stop reving it to the moon damit.

Unless you have had a port job and a upgraded turbo, and maybe blueprinting, there is no reason to go past redline. Not trying to be a jackass, just trying to get you a couple thousand extra miles out of your motor.

People wonder why TII motors rarely go past 100-120k miles......

You can, but you'd be stupid to do it. Not only are you losing the redline warning, you're also losing the low coolant and low oil warnings. Deliberately removing three important warnings is pretty dumb.

What ever happened to the good old days when people weren't so dam lazy, and actually tried to fix what was broken. I say, disconnect all of your warning systems, and see how fast that bad boy will go in second gear! I bet it is at least 65 seconds!

I'd leave it. I personally like it because it lets you know when redline is gonna be on. To me it seems like it comes on like at 6800-6900rpm when i look at it.

If you're driving the car the way it was meant to be driven, that's the shift indicator.

This is the problem I have with exhaust threads on the internet. If people call a buzzer that I can't hear without opening my driver's door when working on the car "really loud" how am I supposed to interpret "ohh that exhaust is really loud."

^It's not hurting it, not in the slightest, it's just a friendly reminder to shift. You can take it all the way to the top and hold it there, man, it's a rotary, look it up.

As for the honking, it's a buzzer, it happens to sound just like the horn if you aren't paying attention, but it's not loud, not a bit.

i believe i saw a post on this awhile back and the adjustment for this buzzer is a screw in the back of the gauges but i think there are 2 screws and one sets the speedo so i wouldnt try futzing with anything till you read up on it a little more anyways good luck and if you just got the car do a fluid change/full tune up on it before putting so much stress on the engine

That reminds me.

One time I was looking to buy another 7. I went to look at one and we went for a test drive. I took off, shifted into second and wound it out untill the buzzer went off. The owner said, "What`s that noise"??? I kid you not, he bought the car new, had owned it for 18 years and had never redlined it. I didn`t buy the car.

when driving at the autocross people were mistaking my redline buzzer for me accidentally hitting my horn while driving the course.

Maybe he wanted you to think the coolant or oil had never run low? Seriously who buys a sports car and doesn't redline it once in 18 years?

WOW........ I get the Honking sound too... but, right BEFORE the honk, THIS happens....

WTF???? Is my car going to blow up?????????

Yeah.... I'm an asshat!!!!!!

Seriously..... don't take it out..... and get a shift light and set it to go off BEFORE that buzzer goes on... the busser is warning you that you are about to blow guts right out of your motor....

There is NO REASON to shift at the RPM that buzzer hits in a stock or even modded street car... by the time that buzzer goes off, your WAY out of the power band unless you got a Perhipheral port motor.... (and, if you did, you wouldn't be asking about the buzzer!!!!!)
