Yes, there were 88 GTU models without sunroofs... sunroofs were an option

I believe he was referring to the fact that it may be a hole cut in a non sunroof car, not a factory sunroof hole.

mine had a sunroof...

oh, and for reference...

moonroof = stationary glass top
sunroof = metal (or sometimes glass) retractable top

just in case the thread starter was meaning sunroof

Most moonroofs are aftermarket, but some dealers did offer a glass mazda sunroof instead of the metal ones. Theyre very rare, but they bolt up just like any stock metal one. A while ago soem guy got a brand new one for free that his buddy found when they were cleaning a dealership. I'm sure if you search you can find out more.

Im probably going to remove my sunroof hardware, and just weld the piece in place. I dont want/need one, and it wont be a street car anyway when im done with it. I think a glass sunroof/moonroof would be heavy though...
