This is the best non-electronic boost controller I've ever seen, much better than a simple bleeder valve.

Not yet, but I plan to. I want to port the wastegate before I aim for more boost, but I'll probably install it (and leave max boost at the current setting like the author) just to take advantage of the quicker boosting. Top-end is nice, but bags of mid-range torque makes a car easier to drive on the street and a lot more fun on windy country roads!

Anyone build this thing yet? I'm running out today to see if I can source parts--FUN! My engine is now broken in and I'm ready to start modding. The AutoSpeed links are great! Love the dual valve idea.

Please post results!

I wouldnt bother with it. To build it would cost 100-200 AUS, and a decent EBC can be bought for 400.

Bleeders are crap.

Did you even read the links? It's not a bleeder and it only cost A$83 to build. The results speak for themselves.

And what decent EBC can be bought new for A$400?

Oooh! An Aussie-Kiwi fight! These are rare in the States!

In all seriousness, http://us1.webpublications.com.au/st...6/0670_8mg.jpg to me, that looks pretty effective at "controlling" boost and eliminating creep--especially with a big-port S5 wastegate.

It is a good controller, but it won't do anything about boost creep. No controller can, whether you pay $10 or $1000, because boost creep is simply caused by the wastegate port being too small.

To everyone who wants to make thir own MBC's...don't even think about a bleed valve, I don't know why people even talk about them anymore.
Also- why build one yourslef from 10 bucks worth of parts, then do all the work to assemble it, when you can buy one on ebay for 11 dollars! (Is your gas and time really only worth 1 dollar?? I think not...)
There is a guy who has sold hundreds of them on there.. its a simple ball and spring, so it's not a bleed, and it works great... that's what I have. The controllers are sold under the band name "Proboost"

Ball and springs do tend to spike a tiny bit if boost hits very hard, but only once you get into the 15 psi range... then it might boost to 16 psi for a second...
Just a thought! I was going to make my own (I make EVERYTHING myself!!!) untill I saw this for 11 bucks.

Hybrid fully electric boost control can be bought for 320 AUS, which equates to are 100 Nz dollars hehe.

Many people have attempted to build that BC and it sucks. And its meant to b hard to do aswell. So why waste 100 bucks?

Aren't you going to give us any more info. If you're right, I'm sure they'd be some interested people here.

So you're saying NZ$ are worth three times more that A$? Damn, were're doing better than I thought...

Why? You can't just say that it sucks and expect us just to take your word for it, particularly since the writer of the article obviuosly had very good results with it. Why did it suck? What problems did it cause? Do you know anyone who tried it?
And its meant to b hard to do aswell.
Hard to build? It doesn't get much easier than some pneumantic fittings and some hose.
