Why not spend the extra 100 bucks and get the whole package self contained with a built in display and no need for a computer with the G-tech Pro?

4 mins of record time isn't much if you have to run back to a desktop computer to extract the data.

Just google for G-Tech. Youll find it.

IMHO, Id just spend the money to get a REAL dyno that has access to a wideband O2.

Then you would have accurate power and A/F numbers.

Yeah, the real dyno is still the way to go. Unless you have 500 bucks for the DIY wideband O2 sensor and then you're just big pimpin.... Thats still a lot of real dyno hours of tuning with the coin you'll drop getting the two systems to do your own measurements.

Either of the two accellerometers are really just a fun toy, not really a tool for tuning. You can work on your consitency with them but not really tune your car off their data.

these little dashboard dynos are actually pretty accurate, there is a catch though

people lie about their wieght, as well as their cars. thats what makes them innacurate.

Yeah. If all the data given is accurate amd youre actually on a 0° road, those devices will be more accurate than anything out there.

But as with many things, they output is only as good as the input.

If you give it the "approximate" weight of your car, itll give you the "approximate" horsepower your car makes.

Forget that device if your car has big HP and wheel slip !

I tried for 1 solid week about 20 runs and ALL TYPES of settings etc to get it to work. It only works on LOW power cars with good grip. Whenever you get spikes in rpm due to tire slip it confuses the unit and when you go to down load the information it will say there are "too many errors" in the data.

Hell I even tried to dyno in 4th gear ! 140+mph and I still had enough wheel slip to confuse the unit !!! It does not take much at all. However it does work perfect on lower powered cars (with good traction).

I sent mine back and got my money back, no hassles.

i have a g-tech... i dont like it, but this thingy looks really good... i like the fact that it shows the powerband too. the gtech always jiggles around and gives screwy results... one run i'm getting 420hp and the next i'm getting 150. this one you linked to looks simple, and accurate. combined with the DIY 02 sensor and a standalone ECU, you can get a lot more tuning done... like making oodles of correction maps, being able to dyno any time, any day, anywhere, as many times as you want. and the fact that this thing shows a powerband would be a huge step up from a g-tech. i would probbably buy this unit, since my plan is to get a standalone (prob haltech) first, and start modding after that. i'm sure after a few stages of upgrade, this thing would easily pay for itself twice over, including the cost of the WB 02 sensor... plus if you bought a WB 02 sensor, you could rent it out to other tuners.

I was thinking the G-Texh pro had the powerband graph in it. I haven't really looked at it yet seeing as how I've been researching other mods lately. (like intake plenum fluid dynamics)

I'm really lucky in one regard, I have a buddy who owns an import shop and is looking at getting a wideband for the business and that means lots of free tuning for me too. I was trying to get him to buy a dyno for a long time but his shop doesn't have the space.
