Discovery in the ratsnest

Alright, finally decided to get around to it. This is a photo of the wiring harness plugging into the ECU (passenger footwell). What exactly am I looking at here? These two ghetto-fab wiring jobs were discovered while I was testing the O2 sensor circuit. I take it they're not stock. Any idea how to resolve?

Also, the connectors will not unplug. ?

As an added bonus, the O2 sensor is reading 64 Ohms between it's bung and the battery. I take it that that isn't exactly normal either?

Model?

Looks to be the 3H terminal in the (S5) FSM, Crank Angle Sensor (G-)

Tape it up, that is a factory splice. Nothing to be concerned about.

The terminals are sort of tempermental, just squeeze the tabs and wiggle them slightly up/down while pulling on them.

FYI: the term "rats nest" is usually used to refer to the mess of vacuum hoses under the manifold.

Thats stock. I've taken apart many mazda and mazda/ford harnesses and seen exactly that before.

The frayed wire on the left is the shielding for the oxygen sensor wire.

Sorry, '90 GXL. And she's stock. (relatively. Long story, engine is not original, swapped by less-than-skilled labor)

I re-wrapped them before putting everything back. So...that black wire there is the O2 sensor wire? The one on page-283 of the Haynes manual?
