Disabling the EGR valve...is this the WAY?...

Disabling the EGR valve...is this the WAY?...
Remove the hose that goes from the vacuum to the EGR valve and plug both those connections off with a cap. Will this work to disable it?

As long as it's sealing (not dumping exhaust gases into the combustion chambers), it should be ok. I bought a car that was running like this for who knows how long.
