i hope my dyno comes out good. ive got an 89 GTU w/ racing beat header, 3" exaust, blitz intake. im working on the motor right now, its all apart in my garage. im gonna port it, get pulleys, hook my electric fan up, get a better flowing MAS, and increase the timing. im hoping for 200 rwhp.

200rwhp would be amazing! only 65 more rwhp and I'm there.....now where to find it.

yea ive heard thats a very feasible # for an 89-91 NA, but those 86-88s already have almost a 20 hp deficit already. i think i can do it, especially if i do my port well.

yea that's true about the 20hp lower. My goal is a healthy 160-170 at the rear wheels and then I'll feel like I have accomplised my "goal". but 200 would be nice. I am going to order a new cat-back sometimes soon, probably either the RP, or the Apexi dual. Hopefully that and a ported intake manifold(which I'll do this summer) will put my at 150-155rwhp.

My observation: Note the notch in both curves at 3800. For those who wire open their secondary intake ports, just extend the torque down from the bottom of the notch..

I wanna dyno my car again. I added even more grounding straps and I wanna see if it effected the dip any.

Here's my most recent dyno run on my 89 GTUs, with a Racing Beat downpipe and presilencer, and a cone intake.

The dyno runs started at 3000, so nothing below that it valid. I could have started at 2000, but that is rather pointless as I would never go WOT under 3000.

Yeah, but they weigh less. Go fig. I guess best case scenario would be 89-91 NA in 86-88 body, but what a wiring nightmare.

Also, not on the 90 GTU chart how flat the torque curve is. This is due, in no small part, to the VDI valve, which alters the length of the intake runners based on rpm and load. Had the chart extended down to 1000 on both vehicles, you would see a major difference in available torque at these lower engine speeds.
