Smile Dipstick length

I know this has been covered before.. I did a search and looked through the results for about two hours.. I still came up dry.. What I am wondering is the length of a N/A oil dipstick?? And does this length mean total (end of stick to the top of ring/handle) or from the end of stick to the top of molded seal?? Thanks for the help,

Jimmy

Did you lose yer dipstick ? A rather critical maintenance componate.

I CAN give THIS advice: These days, drivers should always wear molded seals on THEIR dipsticks...

I still have the dipstick in question.. I remember seeing a thread about this last year.. There was a slight difference in the N/A and TII lengths?? Just checking if mine is the right one?? Thanks,

Jimmy

Yep, hIGGI showed me when I was up in CZ.
The lengths are different, so if you run the longer dipstick in the wrong engine, it could mean trouble!

That is strange some guys should get out a measuring tape and see how long their dipsticks are. Maybe just the metal part? This could be a good thing to have in the faq possibly :o

Here, I measured mine for you...

From the very bottom of the "seal": 13"
From the bottom of the "seat": 14 1/16"
From the top of the handle: 16 11/16"

('88 NA 6-Port)

...and the next person to make a wise *** comment about the length of my 'dip-stick' is getting it up their a$$.
