Digital Speedometer Questions

i was wanting to switch out my cluster and wanted to know how to convert the cable speedometer to one that sends digital signals? i was wanting to try an FD Cluster with this or a Autometer Gauge. Does some just sale the pods to drop in the FC cluster/surround when removing the dash?

TIA!

S4 TII with S5 N/A Cluster

You're probably going to have to fabricate your own.

It might be cheeper to just buy a 3rd gen?

Digital looks like ***. There's a reason ALL analog displays (sans the clock) were chosen. Buy a 240.

Dakota Digital sells the appropriate hardware. It's basically a magnet you mount on your driveshaft, and a Hall sensor to read the magnet. They are designed for aftermarket gauges. AutoMeter speedometers come with their own senders.

A better description: the 3rd gen has an electronic speedo, The 2nd gen has a mechanical speedo. They both have electronic tachs.

Also the 2nd gen has an electronic speed sensor inside the mechanical gauge for the cruise control, or any other electronics you may want to send a speed signal to.
