Differential Tourque Specs
Whats up guys? So i decided to upgrade my NA open diff into an LSD one. the thing is i didnt get the whole diff, i just got the guts and decided to do the exchange myself (yes i know, im crazy). i have my diff all taken apart and im ready to put the other one in but i need the specs of the diff, like bearing pre-load, backlash and tourque numbers on the bolts. i was going to take pics of the whole process but i kept on forgetting my camera. i saw that a guy on here switches a miata diff onto an FC but no specific specs.....any help is greatly appriciated. thanks!
First off, you're not crazy for changing internals of your diff.
I did it, too. Multiple forum bucks for us.
And the information you're seeking can easily be found in the FSM and/or Haynes.

i went to Ricer Central (pep boys) today and found a haynes manual, and i was searching but nothing about bearing pre-load or backlash. just tourque on OUTSIDE bolts of the diff....how did you do yours?
Dunno why you think that's crazy, it's actually pretty common. I put an FD LSD centre in mine.
All the info you need is easily found in the Factory Service Manual, in this case in the Front & Rear Axles chapter. If you don't have the FSM, click here and download it in PDF format for free.
