difference between turbo and na housing?
i was reading over some info on another forum about porting and came across a post about baffles. the part that confused me was that there was a responce saying that na housing have a baffle in the exhaust port and there isnt one in the exhaust port for the turbo housing. now the reason i am concerned with this is that i just bought what i thought was a turbo engine in peices. the housings i got with the packaged deal had baffles in the ports. and if i did get na housings and the baffle thing is right, can i just remove the baffles and still use the housings? if this is all not right and what i read is wrong, should i still remove these baffles seeing the irons i got are already ported? if how do i get the pins out? i know these are alot of questions but i figured i would pile them all in one post seeing i couldnt find answers with the search option. and help would be great. thanks.

If they have the exhaust diffuser in them they are NA housings. You can cut torch the diffuser out if you like or swap the sleeves for TII sleeves. They are held in with a roll pin use a roll pin removal tool or like a zink screw and pull it out or even drill it out. Remember you got to hold the new ones in when taking the old ones out.
Are you sure your Irons are TII? Just checking is all.

ok, at a closer look it is just a sleeve, there is no defuser in there. i guess i just got scared that the guy screwed me. and the irons are turbo as well. the guy i bought them from said that seeing the irons are ported that i needed to remove the what i now realise are just sleeves and port the exhaust as well. does this sound right?
i read over your post iceblue, and i have a few questions about it. i noticed when you were inspecting the irons, what was the tool you used to messure the tolerances? on mine there are lives from where the rotors moved across but there doesnt feel like there is an indent so i wanna see if i can messure it. and second there is a small groove or wear-mark on the inside of one of the housings. how can i tell if it is to deep or whatever that it isnt good to use?
I dunno, i am not new to this engine or car, i have had two cars over the past six years but never made the leap into getting inside of the engine. i think i am just scared that i am gonna overlook something, think something is ok when it isnt, or just basically screw something up.
