i think the ebay ones are cheaper than a brand name filter.

just cut off a piece and take it to kragen, or better yet, ask kragen.

the one on ebay is "bomez Racing" i bough it, came witht he bracket i needed too, i am happen its very non-restrive, anything better would be more then 50 bucks, its a good replacement, altho next time i will go k&n or greddy... but it was worth every penny, u will need to make a new braket to hold it level tho, but it comes with the 3inch hole to flat plate adapter for 86-88...

I bought the el cheapo eBay one and it is separating between the end plate and filter media. Most of that was due to the way I had it mounted, using the end of the filter to support the rest of the intake. It didn't hold up to the vibration. I have since added another mount and used adhesive caulk to repair the cone. Ghetto, and it does need replaced.

Most of the E-bay filters are complete junk that could rupture and ruin your engine. I'm not sure what RP is using on their intake kits right now, but it appears to be some type of K&N knock-off.

I think it would be better just to buy a real K&N cone filter. You can mount one directly to the S5 RX-7, or use an inexpensive adapter for the S4 RX-7:

Of course I would disagree (as I have in the past on this)... carbon dust through the filter is carbon dust through the filter, and a reasonable "real world" test.

Yes, I know that it bothers me more than it should, lol. It's just that this type of thing drives me nuts because of my science background. It is further frustrating to me when such a Mickey Mouse product evaluation is given more credence than the international SAE standard. I realize that those who do not have my education or background may think that the article has some type of validity, but I would hope that people would at least question it rather than taking it for Gospel. I guess that pretty much applies to everything on the internet, though. There are many things that I don't know as well as this subject, and ridiculous articles like this make me wonder how much truth is really in the articles that I must read on faith.

I bought a filter on Ebay and it was a huge piece of crap that fell apart within a month. The filter on the front of the cone wasnt even a filter but was a piece of metal mesh. Terrible waste of money

bonez filter s(from rotary performance) are pretty good, no problems with mine, appears that the element is made by k&n, i'm pretty sure its not a knock off element

I guess I must be lucky then. My ebay filter has been surprisingly sturdy.

I like K&N because it has been proven to increase hp in race cars for decades, they have worked well in my vehicles for over 15 years now, and they last 10 years or 1,000,000 miles. I am sure there are other good filters, too.

However, my point is not to rate the filters myself, but rather to point out that the "test" in that link is totally flawed.
