Arrow diff mount

how hard is it to change the diff mount? i'm changing mine tomorrow and i was just wanted to know if i am gonna be out there all day or not. im not changing the two round ones just the one toward the front.

You may want to pull the whole sub frame, after that its just an unbolt/bolt on affair.

It's not too bad if you can get under the car. loosen the 2 fwd subframe mounts you should be able to swap it out quite easily.

^^ right. But you might wanna drain the oil unless you want to wear gear oil. Other than what they've said, it's maybe 10 bolts at the most. I've got to do the same with mine, so I'm in the same boat as you.

i lowered my sub frame but didnt' take it right out. really long ratchet extensions make it easy to get to the bolt that hold the mount to the sub frame.. about 12" long with a u-joint.

Don't do that. There's no reason you would get gear oil on yourself doing this..

Remove your Y-pipe, lower the subframe [be careful not to loosen anything unnecessary - such as the lateral links], remove the two nuts holding the mount to the subframe, remove the little plate underneath the nuts, remove the 3 nuts on the diff, remove mount.

First time I did it with a friend it took about 4 hrs [we had to remove the entire exhaust system though, lol.. It was all welded into a single piece...]

He probably has a leaking diff

It can turn into a lot of work if the nuts holding the front diff mount are seized. With the subframe lowered (but still in the car) it can be tough to break them loose. If you remove the subframe completely, you'll have an easier time getting leverage, but it's more work to get to that point.

well it took me all day yesterdsay about six hours. i was beeing hard headed. i didn't take anything besides the mount loose. took about a hour to get the old one out(was broke in two pieces). the other five hours was to get it back in place. none of the holes would line up so i took a metal rod and pushed it through the hole until the rest of the holes lined up. it was a bitch. i guess thats what i get for being such a hard head.

Think of it this way: by avoiding removal of the subframe, you saved the hassle of getting an alignment.

yeah its done thankfully. but was a deffinate pain in my a$$
