Unhappy Did I break a seal? or something else is wrong?

Christmas Eve.....crusing on the freeway:

S5 TII with Haltech 6000 miles on brand new factory rebuilt engine

Going about 80mph, 3000rpm, temp 85 degree, exast temp almost to 8
stepped on the gas pedal a little more and all of the sudden the boost dropped from 10 lb to 5lb, and wouldnt go any faster, in fact it was slowing down even if my foot is on the gas.

I parked the car and let it cool and turned it off.

turned it on again after an hour, no smoke or anything at the exhaust, and idle is very steady, but the engine is shaking left to right severly. I hear clinking noise, not sure if it's from the housings or clutch or transmission.

Tried to drive, runs very rough, barely goes.

Anyone has any ideas?

Merry Christmas to you all rotary brothers

Charlie

you just told the story of how lots of people blew their motors.

Do a comp check, even the poor mans comp check will work.

pull one plug and turn it over, listen for the sounds of even pulses... put that plug back and do it on the other one.

Now when i first got my motor running it was shaking right to left.... it was running on one rotor. turns out one of my primairy injector clips was not clipped on all the way.

So it IS running on one rotor... time to find out why. But if you story is correct and you were doing 80 at 3k... thats in 5th and you went to do a full boost pull in 5th? thats alot of load. Who tuned it?

p.s. you NEED a wideband!

doenst sound good a compression check is in order!

well hers another tell tail sign,, now does your boost gauge shake back and forth violently also?? if its reallly shaky all the time, then you have a compression issue

I changed the spark plugs about a week ago, maybe one of them is not connected right or not firing right....I have to check.

so to do a poor man's compression check just take out one of the plugs and turn the engine? and see if there is pulses? I'll have to try that.

Thanks for replying, hopefully I didnt blow it.

The engine is from Mazda factory rebuilt and has 12,000 miles warranty on it....hopefully that helps.....

man....I wasnt even going that fast....

I guess my question is what else can cause my engine to just run on one rotor?

Charlie

you have a haltech... who tuned it? Who made the map that its running?

yea pull a spark plug and listen for even pulses as its spinning over. should be even in volume and in the time in between them. If there is a gap or a weak sounding one... you have a blown motor.

Post in here what the results of that simple test is and we will go from there.
