Designed a Headlight Kit and looking for feed back.
It looks nice, but I'd like to see some night-time pix with the lights on, and some closeups (your kit on an RX-7, not the Miatas). Road lighting in Texas tends to suck; the stock lenses are not cutting it for me in some areas and I'm looking for a replacement. I don't mind the stock look, but I'm definitely interested in these too.
I'm definately interested. I'd need to see some close up pics of the shroud and installation info. If it turnes out to be a good bolt on type kit you'll sell alot of those. If it's a half *** cobbed up kinda make shift kit then it won't sell for long.

nice work
What did you do to make the lights go up only half way? I have been looking at the Knightsports kit but not for $900. I was looking at the Brainstorm Miata kit but was not sure I would want to spend the money and then find that it would not work for me. Thanks for taking the time to make this work.

I'd really need more detail on the kit and it would have to work with the FTP lenses, but I'm interested. It looks very cool and I like the lower profile for decreased drag.

I looked at your site and I applaud your ingenuity. The look of your setup looks similar to my kit, but my kit is a lot more complicated, and is designed to work like a "factory" type installation. By the time my kit will be ready for the public, I will have spent a few thousand dollars in development (I've spent over a grand already) in tooling and prototype development cost. I will have to sale quite a few kits just to recoup my cost and break even (and this dose not include my time) I now have a solid kit design, but I want to make sure there is enough interest before I invest anymore time and money.

Q's:
1) How does it work with the FTP's - I assume OK...
2) How much under $300?
3) Have you considered selling a kit without the lights or bezel? I'd kind of prefer a "rectangle light" that's lower profile - I was one of those poeple that said the "new" integra was dorky because it looked like someone made a clay model and "stooge-poked" it for the lights - I'm not a fan of round headlights.
I would like a rectangular "sleepy-eyes" kit, or one with no lights - or split a kit with someone who wants to do a "permanent sleepy" mod...

I will try to answer some of the questions that have been asked:
The 86-91 RX-7’s popup headlight mechanism is pretty complicated compared to a lot of other cars with popup headlights out there. The kit I have designed is a complete replacement for the Stock setup and will include all parts, lights, bulbs, electrical, brackets, etc. that you will need to do this modification. However this will be a complete kit and not something you can pick and choose to install only certain parts.
As for designing a non-popup headlight kit for the 2nd gen, I’ve looked into the cost to develop something like that and I’ve been quoted anywhere 5 to 30 thousand just to develop a prototype kit. Even though I know a lot of people on this forum would be interested in such a kit. There is simply not enough of a demand to justify the cost of development, and that is why you don’t see companies making a lot of this stuff we all want.
As for the price of the kit, my goal is to keep it under $300 (for the complete kit). But until the kit is ready for market, my final cost per unit is unknown.
As for the FTP (flash to pass lenses) still working with my kit. I will test the kit on a stock RX-7 and see how the lights shine through the FTP’s and I will report the results.
I just want to thank everyone again for all the feedback.

Yeah, i love the look of those too. I to have considered the Knight Sports headlight kit and from your pictures it looks exactly the same.
I'm also wondering about the time it took you to install the kit. You said that it completely replaces the factory headlight assembly, so how does that affect the installation time; 1, 2, 5 hours?
Anyways, they look great and i am interested.
