Well Ive done the dreaded compression test and the motor is gone... Now time to try to get a loan for a rebuild. Has anyone comparison shopped around for rotary rebuilds...Rotary resurection seems like a decent price, Cumberland Rotary wants to charge 2,200 + install and removal + whatever internal parts cannot be salvaged. = tooo damn much $$$$. Prob. a good 3000 bucks if i went w/ them. Well thanks for all the help, and I did have a feeling that this was the prob. the whole time, I just didnt want to believe it.

from his knowledgable posts around the forum, Kevin is one of the few (if any) mechanics i would ever trust my engine to (without me standing next to him the whole time )
too bad for me he operates in the US

its not only that..its that he WONT let the job get done until its done right. He wont re-use **** that wont work, If somethings not working, and there is no way to fix it, he'll fab his own Tennessee ideas into fixing it. I know anything i give him will come back working right.

well, think about it this way. A lot of these engines are 12+ years old if they're still original. Many are bound to go in this time. Im sure back in 1995 there werent too many blown engine posts. Parts get hard and brittle after being exposed to heated areas (like combustion chambers) after a long time. As they become brittle, a spot on the apex seal can slowely become weaker and weaker until it basically cracks in half throwing the seal around the engine. Its not that they're not reliable, its just that these engines are starting to see their age

Kevin built a messy dirty lousy motor for my friend, I WOULD NEVER BUY A MOTOR FROM HIM!!
None of the internals were cleaned, engine was torn down after we got it back from him. It was a mess.

some info
Well one of you asked how I treated my TII. I bought it at 49Kmiles (hence the name) from a 65 year old that drove it about 2 times a week since it was new. Well Now it has currently 55.6K and is dead. The 65 year old babies it w/ 1-2K oil changes and easy drives...he says he always let it warm up and cool down because of the turbo...he flooded it once moving it out of the driveway, then he found out about that roatry prob. When I bought it I started to work it in like it was new considering the turbo had little use... Then I bought a air filter & adapter W/ tid mod and then bought a Racing Beat down pipe and pre-silencer combo. I drive aggresively, and tested my mods at the track. I Ran it stock at the track with no mods at a 15.5...then after the tid and filter...15.1. Then after my RB dp and presilencer,,,I consistently ran a 14.2. Damn good for 300$ invested. I ran about 1 time every month (when i went I ran aprox. 7or8 runs.) Maybe i wnet to the track about 6 times. I learned how to launch at 4.25 rpms and ect... Well other than the track I typically dove mildly aggressive. When I saw someone on the street I wanted to race...I did and usually suprized the hell out of that person! But then I drove it pretty normally, w/ 3-5K shifts when i wasnt in the need for speed or racing. I changed the oil every 3K(i know not the best) but I only replaced a clutch and a starter. Then all of a sudden while tring to boost, it craped out and ran like ****...then cut out, for good. Sucks ***, Ive talked w/ kevin, and talked w/ a place called cumberland roatary that the est. is 3,000 for rebuild, install and removal, that does not include any other rotars or housing that need to be replaced... So your talking prob. 3,500-4000!!! Kevin semms to be around 2,000 w. used replacememt housings and rotars and the rebuild. +200 for a street port which why the hell not?? To compare, I asked cumberland roatry how much they charge for a street port...he said 450...I think this guy is crazy. I am waiting on a loan for college expensies, If im approved, ill prob. go w/ Kevin. Hope this info has helped.

I am in the same boat as everyone else... got a TII, got the RB turbo exhaust, intake, removed ac ps and some other stuff, got a BOV and thought wow I am the man, and I have a car that is sick as hell. Then all of a sudden capow the car just bogs down and wont accelerate. Time for a new engine, luckily I just graduated so my grandma is paying for all my new engine stuff. Anyway, 1500 for a rebuild from kevin, then I got the engine pulled. My mechanic says I need 2 new motor mounts, 4 new enjectors as the old ones were already rebuilt and pretty much destroyed, and now I need a new clutch. So for parts and labor your talking 2500~ or so. So if your paying for it yourself, you better save up. Luckily im set and I should be ready to break in the new engine next week =)

Premix is a mixture of Gasoline and 2 cycle or oil.
The original design of the rotary has oil injectors that injects oil onto the spinning rotors to help provide postive sealing, reduce tempatures, and properly lubricate moving parts.
Its is argued that when you run premix you get:
Less carbon build up
Better Gas mileage
You don't have to work about the failure of the Oil Pump.
Also, you car will smell like a lawn mower.
Use the search feature to find out more about premix.

I haven't delt with Kevin, but I only hear only good. The only thing you can compare to Kevin and atkins is not quality, but price. Kevin gives you more options and lower prices than other shops. He is also very knowledgeable and treats his customers very well.
