delayed hesitation
i was hoping someone could help me out...
my car starts up fine and runs well. about 20 minutes into driving, it starts to kinda hesitate at certain rpms (anywhere between 2.2k and 3.2k). the longer i drive, the worse it gets. sometimes to the point where it would hesitate so bad i cant go past 1500rpm in any gear due to extremely bad hesitation. what could cause this? how can i fix it?
also, its an 86 GXL. and the most recent thing ive done that might have an effect is new ngk spark plugs.
thanks

" have this hesitation whenever I accelerate right around 3500-4000 RPM
The dreaded 3800 RPM hesitation is cause 90% of the time by poor ground connections between the engine, the battery, and the car. Clean or replace all the under hood ground connections. On 86 model year cars , replacing/regrounding the pressure sensor's ground wire has helped (do not re-ground a 87 or later model year). If there is still a problem after that, look at cleaning the fuel injectors and (on a N/A) that your 5th/6th ports are operating correctly."

As it says. I don't mean to be offensive with this post at all, just dug it up for you. Hope you get it fixed.

Pull your fuel pump out and inspect the pickup sock,, it's most likely covered in gunk,, had the same problem a few years back in my old 88 vert,, needed to have the tank sent out to get cleaned and a new sock fixed it.

WTF is a Piston?..Anyone?
i would have to bet on a tps issue. if its doing it while your trying to drive it softly then that is your issue if your stepping on it past half throttle the tps wont make a diff because it only measures the first 1/4 throttle. i know this because i have a tps meter or what ever you want to call it. its simple and you can build one all u need is 2 LED bulbs and a few wires there are instructions on building a ghetto one but it works the same i have tested them both.
