yes. You have to remove the steering wheel and drop the steering column to get it off easily. Removing the shifter and ebrake will also help.

As the Factory Service Manual indicates, yes. You also need to drop the steering column slightly.

Not only that but I believe it's been covered in the 2nd Gen Archive dash removal thread.

How about this...sit in your drivers seat and look at the dash. Now look at the steering wheel, it's size, and location. Do you think you can take the dash out without removing the steering wheel?

No. That's not necessary. Take off the shift ****, boot, and surround. Put the shifter in reverse. That's plenty.

your right, its not necessary, but it makes the job easier, takes 1 minute and prevents damage to the dash.

You dont HAVE to take the steering wheel out. I didnt take mine out when I did mine because the wheel was friggin stuck on there. Taking the shifter and ebrake out also make it easier for pulling out and putting it back in, but arent necessary. As for the steering column, it will drop no matter what since the bolts holding it up are connected to the dash.

Also, go to the 2nd gen archives and look on page 3 for the Dash Removal thread. It gives you a good list of what to do and how many bolts there are and where they are at.

you would still have to drop the steering colomn since it bolts into the dash frame. its a pig to do with the wheel still on, I definitly recommend removing the wheel.

Yes it is easier to remove the wheel in order to remove the dash. but its not all that difficult to do without removing the wheel just take the 2 12 mm bolts that hold the column up and have a friend hold the steering column down and lift the dash over not a big deal
