get a ride to the part store and take a rear brake pad with you, and when they give you the part pull them out and compare them with your old one.

We all know morons work at the parts store. Take the part with you to match it up so he/she doesn't give you a wrong part. It happens to me too many times so unless I know EXACTLY how the parts look, I take the part to match it up. They hire anyone at parts store.

When you say they are "too big", what do you mean? Are the pads a different size then the ones you have OR are they to thick?

Wait... the outer pads fit and the inner do not? hmmm...

I don't mean to insult your intelligence...but you did twist the piston until it went all the way down, right?

i was thinking the same thing...

you know you have to reset the piston on the rear calipers before you can fit the pads in, right? on most cars... this usually means getting a needle nose plier or a socket cube and turning it until it reseats.

... another thought... i'm not sure, but i think i had a similar problem putting hawk HPS pads on my 240sx. they looked like they would fit, but they didn't... it was b/c i thought they were universal - they aren't. they are carside/caliperside specific. iirc once i figured that out they went in fine. you need to take a better look at how your old ones were sitting in the caliper.

With the pad out, you take a set of needlenose pliers, and use those to twist the caliper. I can't remember if it's clockwise or counterclockwise, just keep turning until it's flush with the rest of the caliper.

I actually had to use some snap ring pliers when I did mine last since I forgot the needlenose...that was a bitch.
