Damn Insurance Companies!
Almost 2 weeks ago my car was hit while I was at my girlfriends. Her family has 4 cars so they have no extra space in their driveway for my car, leaving it sitting on the side of the road. I'm super careful with my car so i put it as close to the side as possible, and sometimes pulling up on their grass. (its not a right angle curb, its the wavy kind)
So I leave my GFs house and go to work for the day. At lunch time I walk out and see and notice the white car a few spots down doesn't appear to be reflecting right. I get closer and see the passenger side over the gas cap has been hit! I immediately flip the **** out. I was super pissed. Worst lunch ever. After calming down and thinking about it and looking at the white paint I took a wild guess and spoke with her neighbor across the street. It was an old lady in her 60s-70s and before knocking on the door noticed her bumper had a crack in it. She drives a crown vic. After knocking and speaking it turned out it was her, and it happened a day earlier. It was 6 am and raining out. She had pulled out but pulled back in to get something and then pulled back out and hit me. She said she was going to leave a note, but it was raining so there was no point in that.
Now almost 2 weeks later after filing a claim on October 28th, I have yet to hear back from her insurance company. I was given a direct number to the agent today and hes now on vacation until the 16th! This is crazy! Unbelievable! The insurance company is Nationwide. I was expecting better service than this. I hate how these companies can CHARGE you extra for being late on payments, but take forever to payout to you! Keep in mind this isnt my insurance provider, it is the other half of the accident. It's really aggravating...
What should I do?!!

If they are a national company, speak to someone in customer service and not the agent. Tell them there is no excuse that a claim is delayed because of an agent's choice to go on vacation.
Why do you need to speak to her company though? Your insurance will cover the damage, then they will go after her company.

keep calling and work on this issue!
you payed money to them every month so they can fix your car when this kind of thing happens. Just dont be yelling at them because if you start to yell, then they wont want to help you as much as they could... IMO

I only have liability on my car. Since my car was parked, I need to speak with her insurance company to get it repaired. That is what my company told me (liberty mutual)
I have spoken to them numerous times, and I have spoken with their call center, but did not think of getting a different agent...I'll try that tomorrow.
By the way I'm only 19 and this is my first accident so...not exactly sure how this whole thing works :P

Nationwide has a toll-free claim number. YOU file a claim, providing the name and tag number of the person/car that hit you. You do not need the permission of the agent, nor do you need the permission of the person who hit you.
Additionally, you file an accident report with the local police department. You detail the time and place of the conversation with the person who hit you.
The company will send out an adjuster/investigator who will likely do a 'quick-claim'. In this case, the adjuster will use industry standard estimation software that will accurately asses the damage and calculate the price of the repair. He will cut you a check on the spot. You can then choose to either get your car repaired or pocket the money and drive a dented car.
Time is working against you.

Well I called and spoke with someone yesterday (finally).
They were taking so long since it looks like she had a lapse in coverage due to not paying. Now good thing in Delaware they have a requirement that every policy includes uninsured motorist coverage. I'll pay a 250$ deductible and my insurance company will fix it, and then they will go after her for the rest of the bill and i get my 250$ back.
