The damage estimate.....

I went to get the damage estimate done on my car today and they said its just over $3400 in damages . They also said that it is unofficially a write-off, because they are allowing me to see if i can get it fixed somewhere else for slightly cheaper. Im going in to a body shop tomorrow to get an estimate there, hopefully its cheaper.

Now they gave prices for fixing some parts like;

New hood - $537.61 (CAN)
New bumper - $662.62

What im wondering if it might end up being cheaper to buy a body kit , or at least a front lip body kit now rather than getting the parts they suggest. Also im wondering if its possible for them to get me the Turbo II hood instead of just an N/A hood.

Anybody have any info on this, i'd greatly appreciate it!! I need some help making my decision to keep it or not!!!!!!
Thanx
Mike

new bumper? Do they mean just the cover? If so, that's too much.

Hood is probably right. Just buy a used one. Someone even had carbon fiber ones for around that.

What is damaged?

Well the front bumper is slightly deformed, the hood is defiatly damaged (curled up) and the absorber bars right beside the anitfreeze resevoir have given in ...
It looks like they do just mean the cover it says :
Frt cover assy, frt bumper cover - FB01-50-031C - 662.62

remember tho this is canadian amounts, on the mazdatrix webpage a new cover is like $500 something USD.

take their money and say you'll get it fixed. Then goto a junkyard and buy a bumper for 15 dollars. Hopefully nothing below the hood is too damaged to be straightened out with a lil muscle. New hood (not a TII hood) should be under 100 dollars.
