custom header question

I've got a local shop that will make me a custom header, but what I want to know is what thickness of materials should be used?

you can probably order the flange from mazdatrix just as cheap as you can make one. shipping might get you tho.

Just buy the fabricators kit from Mazdatrix. It has everything you are going to make already in it for $78.

Being in Canada, I can't afford to order from the US. Our pretend money isn't worth jack, so for me, the custom route is easier.

What do you have to do to that kit, just weld it together?

i thought about building a custom header.. but would it net the same hp gains as the RB... thats the real Q and would i be able to buy the prescilencer too? and can i get a prescilencer without that split air pipe? cuz i wont be having any cats and the air pump... looks dont really matter under the hood just want the best performance, for the money... whos done this?

IMHO headers are a waste of time unless you have a very free flowing air intake and exhaust system to go with them. It makes no sense to run headers with cats or for that matter with the rest of the stock exhaust and air intake.

The exhaust from a rotary is much much hotter than a recip engine's exhaust. The thick cast iron manifold Mazda uses flows very well for most uses, plus it can stand up to the heat and has the heat shielding mounted to it. If you run headers you will need to reroute any wires or lines near them so they do not get cooked.

The dealer near me stripped my cast iron manifold replacing the O2 sensor, so I've got to replace it with something, and since I've got a cold air intake, and freed up exhaust, I figured why not put on some headers instead of another stock manifold. I assume that header wrap will help with under hood temps.

Buy the kit from Racing Beat. Or just buy the Plate from Racing Beat. We use their header plates to make our turbo manifolds. They work great!!!!
