Jb weld becomes brittle at high temperatures, I would trust that less than I would the insert itself. You dont remember what happened to the original JB weld sleeve guy's motor?

 

noob question... What are sleeves and wha are there purpose?

Go search the archives for information on 6 ports or sleeves, or do a general search using the function up by the red featured car on the right corner of your screen.

IT's too big of an explanation to get into in this thread (trying to keep it on topic), but suffice to say theyre a variable intake for more top end power. IT's a hollow cylinder with a hole cut in one end that rotates to align with a port in the engine allowing air to enter the extra port.

 

If you take off the lower intake manifold, there will be 2 round cylindrical inserts that slide into ports in the end housings. The sleeves are hollow and are open on one side near the tip. When below ~3800RPM, the closed side of the sleeve is facing inward, so that no airflow makes it to the engine. Once you hit ~3800rpm or so, your auxillary port actuators pressurize, and rotate the sleeves so the open part faces in, allowing more airflow into the engine. The Pineapple inserts are curves, fitting into the stock sleeve to allow a better transition of airflow..

sounds like a great application for Red Loctite.

 

Does loctite have a heat rating?? Remember this insert is near the combustion chamber, and is reaching some fairly high temeratures..

 

Plus there are no threads for the loctite to adhere to. I dont know that it would do the job.

 

BTW, I think I have been watching too many of those forensic science shows on discovery...

I wished I still had the old rotor housing from a T2 around here. Some teeth on the stationary gear broke, and the rotor decided to sl;edgehammer the rotor housing at aout 7,000 rpm, needless to say it was way way worse

 

Did you know that LOTS of Production and GT racers put loctite on the outside of the rotor bearing to keep them from walking and spinning? bearing is smoooooootttttthhhhhhhh..........

 

No ****. Well, everytime I have personally tried loctite (red) on a smooth surface, it doesnt seem to do quite the job I would like. Perhaps it is the answer for this problem though.

A source close to PR has posted and a resolution is in the works, it appears.

 

For those of you too lazy to read the other thread on TeamFC3S, Rob's preferred method is Green Loctite, as per Blake Qualley's post.

Looks like Rob knows how to use Loctite better than you do hypntyz7. No ****.

 

What about loctite sleeve retainer? It was meant to bond to smooth surfaces.

 

I have the PR insets, I cleaned them very well, And when I went to PR Rob installed them for me, he put some red loctite and then peened(sp) the insets for further protection from them falling in, red loctite works good for this application. And if you want to can rough up the mating surfaces of the insert and sleeve to get a better hold.

 

Theres a reason I make mine out of nylon, and pin them into the sleeve...

If I recall correctly, his weren't PR sleeve inserts, they were homemade inserts made of JB Weld. Bit of a difference.

 

What kind of interest would there be? Im leanign towards no unless there is lots of interest.
