curiosity question ...

sooooo I was day dreaming today (As usual) and was thinking ... from what I have seen from all the rotory rebuilding threads .... why dont we stack 2 or 3 13B rotor sets on each other? I think this idea was brought on by the mazda lamans engine that was 2 13Bs stuck togather. Anyways Wouldnt the only thing that would need to be custom made be, motor mounts, oil cooler lines, and the "eccentric" or output shaft?

theroretically ... couldnt you just run two stock intakes, two stock exaust, and two stock ECUs? (although any idiot would run stand alone obviously haha)

I'm not really two serious about this, just wondering what your guys ideas on this is. ... dont know why I am so interested.. .haha

thanks
tweak.

The R26B is not two 13B's stuck together any more than a V8 is two 4-cyl engines stuck together. All three intermediate housings are completely different to 13B items. Mazda have never made 4-rotor side-port housings, so unless you think you can make your own (and you can't), it'll be a PP just like every other 4-rotor engine in the world. This means completely custom intake and exhaust systems. All non-factory 4-rotors have been assembled using extensively modified 13B intermediate housings and a custom multi-piece e-shaft, both of which not suprisingly are very expensive.

Still sound easy?

more power to him, but I think I like the 20bt style a bit better. Expensive, but cheaper.

I guess you could run 2 13B's in series. Link them together with some sort of driveshaft. Then again that would take up ALOT of room.

Making a four rotor is easy. There are numerous kits available that can get you started. What holds people back is the $10,000 or so it takes to assemble the shortblock....
