Crush nut?

Apparently I need the crush nut on the half shaft that you can see when you take the center cap off. Does anyone know where i can get it from? Any help would be appreciated.

BTW, I already asked the local Mazda dealership and they couldn't tell me how much it would be. They said it comes with a bunch of stuff, i guess wheel bearings or something and they can't sell just the crush nut.

Find a factory parts diagram and verify what the dealership told you.

When I broke a tooth off my flywheel ring gear, they told me they didn't sell just ring gears and I had to buy a whole new flywheel. I located the ring gear part number and when they punched it in, it was valid and still in stock.

See if you can locate an individual part number first, before giving up.

Check the 89-90 or 91-92 parts diagrams. Download them from rx-7 2nd gen section on www.mazdaformance.com

BTW - mazdaformance is usually much cheaper than the dealership. Email them the part # for a quote.

I don't think we have a Pep Boys. Is that like an Advance Auto, or Autozone?

Mazda sells them. The last time I bought them, which was several years ago, they cost about $12 each. BTW, I've been using (and re-using) those nuts without crushing the collar...just check them for tightness everytime you rotate tires.

Those are supposed to be selflocking nuts. But if you did not destroy the old ones ....use them again. After torquing the nuts you are supposed to stake the nut to the grooove. That staking plus the torque should be good enough.
