question about pintle cap for injectors

question about pintle cap for injectors

well i've bought the pintle caps from mazdatrix and for some reason the hole is bigger on the new ones. is there a purpose for this? also i couldn't put the pintle cap on the injectors all the way is this a bad thing? i want to know before i start putting my car together, next u know i got leaky injectors =(

I noticed that also when I installed new caps about a year ago. Not sure exactly why that is, but the car ran fine with the new caps.

Its just to help seat the injector seals. Not really much else.

Ah, the pintle caps...

Yes, on the new caps the whole is bigger. Apparently, it helps with atomization...

To get them on, use your favourite petrolium based "personal" lubricant, and a small vice. Make SURE that the injector seats in the vice such that the pintle ends up between the grooves in the jaw. Now slowly tighten the vice until it "clicks".

I've done this a bunch of times, because those damn things always crack on me.
