Cruise Control Doesnt Work

Unhappy Cruise Control Doesnt Work

Hello Folks,

My Cruise Control DOesnt Work. Where should i start? The light comes on when i click on the MAIN button. I looked everywhere but no answer.

Its a 1987 GXL 5-Speed

Take a look at your clutch pedal and see if the plastic button that engages the clutch switch is missing. And yes, there are 2 clutch switches. One is when the clutch pedal is pushed all the way down to start the car, the other is when the clutch pedal is all the way up to allow the cruise to engage.

Mine was broken, so I glued a penny to it. Cheapest repair ever

You can also check the connector at the cruise control actuator, under the hood (passenger firewall/inner fender) and connector FEM-01 under the dash, behind passenger side kick panel.

Check the cable to the throttle body is still connected.

I dont know how to thank u, that was exactly what was wrong with mine. now i can go long distance with confidence

For once it turned out to be the easiest thing first! Glad it worked out for you.

Out of curiosity, what did you use to repair it? I think I'm going to have to keep a tally of how many people do the penny repair; it just works so well.
