Cross drilled engine block
Cross drilled engine block
Has anyone ever done this to there engine block? If so at what amount of HP is needed in order for this to actully be put to use. I was told that this is done to help protect the rear rotor from being messed up do to high HP amounts.
Is any of this actully true or was the guy full of it?

Yep, full of crap. I think whatever sources you got this info from got mixed up between the engine and brake rotors. The only thing remotely related to what you were talking about is maybe engine dowelling.
hmm ok, i was just wondering. Never hurts to ask before i go running my mouth about something non existant. I heard about someone doing this to there engine and wasnt sure if it was real or not.
it wasnt my car, theres no way in hell id do something like that. It was the first time i heard it. Some knuckle head from myspace said he was doing it to his car. thats why i asked here, If its true then thats great, but if its wrong then his loss.

Would cross drilling it be doweling it or pporting it? Adding the whole new intake ports on the side of the block would kind of be cross drilling it.
Or maybe this person is adding oil holes to his bearings?
or
He thinks its possible to not kill the cooling, balance, structure, or sealed areas and drilling out wieght from the rotors.

I think he was refering to pinning the thing, thats what first came to my mind when he said it was why he was doing it. But he said he was sticking throught he side of the housing.
dowel pinning.
damn, never knew how many ******* retards and forum ****** travelled these forums 'til now. not worth the effort unless you plan on making over 350RWHP on S4 motor or over 500RWHP on an S5 even then most people tend to just wing it and have no issues.
if you guys don't know then shut the hell up instead of flaming the guy for asking a valid question.
