I just thought a remote turbo would eliminate some of the hassles with a turbo'ed NA swap, but everyone shut me down on that one... another hair-brained scheme in the circular storage bin!!

On a related note... the S5 alternator ain't all that either... its maybe 80 amps? on a good day? My big question is why the original poster child is going to all this trouble for an e-fan?

I was pulling for you to try that RMT...you do it and I will follow!

Why did you do all that to your car? Same reason he started the efan, probably. I don't know exactly why, but since he is in the middle of it, I can only help him back on the path to success.

80 amps on S5, yes. I don't get the good day/bad day thing. Mine works fine 14+ volts. Fan draws around 20 amps on low, 27 on high.

I did mine for a very good reason and it is working out just fine. I haven't gone through the high temp season yet when the charging system will be taxed hard every day but the A/C cooling results are stellar. Time will tell.

Sorry to post-jack. the reason I did a motor swap was my S4 Na wouldn't start any more because of chronic low compression due to the previous owner(my now deceased dear ole dad) consistently baby'd the engine. I found a used longblock & tranny from a s5 vert for $350 about 50 miles away. so I bought it & did a swap and used the S5 manifold as an upgrade. to further add to the drama the block turned out to be an s4 with all s5 peripherals on it so I upgraded the intake to S5 and then had to come up with a way to make it all work with standard s4 electronics. Needless to say it was quite a journey into mystery and payed off quite nicely as I now have a fully functional s4 with s5 intake and it pulls real good now.

Okay I dunno why my profile says 1990, its an 88 vert. I noticed that the S5 alternators are 80 amps. Which may or may not be enough. So if I get an FD alt. will I need to replace the pully with my S4 alt.? I think I may just go back to the original fan because the e-fan I have isn't covering the entire radiator like the shroud for the stock set-up did. I'm just trying to eliminate dead space. But then again, I have power stearing and A/C (which will be my next task to fix).

So all in favor of me putting my Stock fan set-up back on, say I!

Well... now we know.... go back to the original clutch driven stock fan. it works good & doesn't kill your electrical system. It would have cost you alot more than the 6 or 8$ you spent on the fan. The S4 alternator really doesn't have anything to spare for add-on electrical loads. I would think an aftermarket stereo amp would probably work it hard at night time with the lights on. Good Luck

Hey buddie, I think you are in over your head. Sell the stuff you bought and put back the original fan. You will be glad you did. So will your car.

This is precisely why my car still has the clutch driven fan. The FC electrical system has enough gremlins on it's own without cranking the amperage up to it's limit

Okay, saterday doesn't look like im working so I'll put it back together then. I just got new bolts from Tacoma screw (awesome) so I can put the gear back on without those stupid double threaded bolts. So yeah I'm gunna put it back to stock.
