no its an hks POV (pop off valve). I just looked them up on a website and it told a little about them.

I'll probably just get a machine shop to make me a block off plate for it. I know it should be an easy task but I don't have the metal cutters etc... to make my own block off plate.

sounds like a BOV in the description but they call it a pop off valve, looks just like a BOV and probably acts similar to a BOV with the same principle, to keep your intake from overboosting but it looks simpler than a BOV in construction. if you have a BOV and this thingy, i would remove the popoff valve, it is somewhat of overkill if you ask me.

a pov is made for overboost where as a bov is made to release back pressure on the turbine wheel. Basically the pov is very simple it is only a certain pound spring that you control some how by a screw (that part is like a bov) but with the pov it is triggered by the amount of boost you have not vacuum like with a bov. So if you want to only make like 15psi of boost you set this thing for lets say 16 or 17 and that metal cylinder opens up and releases air if for some reason the wastegate doesn't work right once or boost controller malfunctions.
make sure your throttle body is on tight. the air might be leakign out where your TB meets the UIM or where the elbow meets the TB. thats the only thing i can think of that is right in front of you.

yeah I think I'm just going to get rid of the pov because my wastegate is ported stupid big so I'm sure that pov like you said is just over kill. Nice over kill if I wanted to mess with it but really don't at all.

yeah I got all that, its a mbc, one day I would love to get an avc-r but for now the mbc will do. I'm boosting at 15psi right now (before this problem) steady with my ported wastegate and boost controller.
what kind of fuel trim addon are you using? i was thinking of plugging in my MBC and throwing my SAFC2 on my car but i think i may just wait until i get an exhaust system for it, no point going through all the trouble now and tuning it for minimal gains...
i could just roll the dice and add my MBC and add a few PSI in the meantime.

720cc secondaries, safc, rx7.com fuel pump, and a fuel pump rewire. I'm running way rich right now until I get it dynoed but of course I need this little problem taken care of first

well it looks like that pov was the problem the hole time. It looked like the rtv I used had it stuck closed for a while and when I put my cai on for some reason durring that run is when the rtv worked it's way loose. I descided to just get some gasket maker and make a gasket for the pov and instead of puting a hole in the middle of the gasket where the air would go through to make the pov work I simply made the gasket with out a hole. I then rtved it up and put the thermo wrap on my fmic piping that goes over my mani and headed out today. I found that I can now boost again
