crank angle sensor?

crank angle sensor?

i'm a 1st gen guy, so excuse the ignorance: what's a crank angle sensor? what is it used for?

From: NY, MA, MI, OR, TX, and now LA or AZ!
Basically acts as a distributor, basically signals the coils when to fire, you turn it to adjust timing and so forth.

The CAS supercedes the distributer; it sends the ECU a signal at eccentric shaft degrees which tells the coils to fire.

Our cars run DIS ignition.
